Tony Award Predictions: The Play Categories

Lucky Guy

The Tony Awards have been called the “gay Super Bowl,” which means they deserve just as much attention as that major sporting event! So, with the big night coming up this weekend, here are my predictions for who will take home the prizes in the major categories. Today I took a look at the Play categories; on Monday I’ll turn my attention to the Musicals.

Though there were good performances and good moments, I wasn’t blown away by either the new plays or the revivals presented on Broadway this season. So, inspired by Ben Brantley and Charles Isherwood in their Tony Award predictions from a couple of weeks ago, I’ve also included a “Should Have Been Nominated” section, which is not limited to shows that were eligible for the big prize (in other words, I included Off-Broadway shows in this category).

Agree with my predictions? Disagree? Let me know!
