Spare Bites: X Factor, Smash, Taylor Swift and Michael Feingold

VEGAS Magazine Celebrates Their 9th Anniversary With Kelly Rowland At Boulevard Pool At The Cosmopolitan

Some thoughts on happenings from around the web today…

THOUGH Simon Cowell has declared his intention to overhaul The X Factor this year, I’m not feeling particularly inspired by the rumored choices of Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio as the new judges . Are Rowland and Rubio, who will join returning judges Cowell and Demi Lovato, really going to bring something to the show that hasn’t already been brought to a singing competition? The news doesn’t give me high hopes that this show will ever be the hit Cowell once promised it would be.

CASTING NEWS for two Smash stars came out today — Tony Award-winner Christian Borle will appear in the untitled new Michael Mann film alongside Chris Hemsworth and Viola Davis, and Krista Rodriguez will star on Broadway opposite Chuck‘s Zachary Levi in First Date. The real question, though, is what will Megan Hilty’s next move be? Her talents deserve another high profile platform — possibly Adelaide in the announced film version of Guys and Dolls, starring Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

IT’S OFFICIAL — Michael Feingold, the incredibly talented and insightful drama critic who has been writing for The Village Voice for more than 40 years, was let go by the paper on Friday. Some smart publication will snatch him up — he’s too good to not have an featuring his work. I bet Alec Baldwin, based on his Huffington Post piece, would be happy if The New York Times would grab him to replace Ben Brantley!

TAYLOR SWIFT is apparently not a big fan of her pal Selena Gomez’ apparently on-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. This GIF of her reaction to their PDA (courtesy of dlisted.com) is absolutely hysterical.
